UP CM Adityanath attends Raman Singh's nomination filing event for Chhattisgarh assembly election

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was present at the state's Rajnandgaon district on Tuesday when Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh filed his nomination papers for the assembly election.

Raipur: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was present at the state's Rajnandgaon district on Tuesday when Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh filed his nomination papers for the assembly election.

Singh will be contesting from Rajnandgaon constituency and today is the last day for filing nomination for the first phase which is due on November 12.

 

On Saturday, BJP released list of candidates contesting in the upcoming assembly elections in the state. The decision was announced by Union Health Minister JP Nadda following the BJP's Central Election Committee (CEC) meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and attended by Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and party president Amit Shah among several others at the BJP headquarters. Nadda announced the names of candidates for 77 seats out of 90 in the state.

Among the 77 candidates contesting in Chhattisgarh, 14 candidates are women, while 25 candidates come under the age group of 40. There are 29 candidates from the Schedule Tribes category and 10 from the Schedule Casts category. A total of 53 candidates are from farming background, three are professionals and one is a former Indian Administrative Service (IAS) official.

The state will go to polls in two phases on November 12 and 20. Counting of votes will take place on December 11.(ANI)
