Three cops transferred in connection with Bulandshahr violence

Bulandshahr Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Krishna Bahadur Singh and two other police officials have been transferred in connection with the mob violence in Uttar Pradesh's Bulandshahr district in which two people including a cop were killed.

Lucknow: Bulandshahr Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Krishna Bahadur Singh and two other police officials have been transferred in connection with the mob violence in Uttar Pradesh's Bulandshahr district in which two people including a cop were killed.

Sitapur Superintendent of Police Prabhakar Chaudhary has been appointed as Bulandshahr SSP replacing Singh, who has now been transferred to Director General of Police (DGP) Headquarters in Lucknow.

The other two policemen, who have been transferred include Syana Circle Officer Satya Prakash Sharma and Chingravathi police station in-charge Suresh Kumar. Prakash has been transferred to Police Training College in Moradabad while Kumar has been transferred to Lalitpur district.

On Friday, five people were arrested by the Uttar Pradeshpolice in connection with the incident on the basis of video footages and eyewitnesses.

Clashes erupted in Bulandshahr on December 3 after cattle carcass was found in the region, which led to agitation by locals demanding the closure of all illegal animal slaughterhouses. In the protests that ensued, a policeman Subodh Singh and a civilian Sumit were killed. (ANI)
