PTI leader to visit Karachi to pursue MQM-P for alliance

Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Jehangir Tareen will on Saturday meet Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leadership in Karachi.

"Tareen will formally invite MQM-P to join PTI's coalition government," Geo News quoted sources as saying.

Earlier on Friday, Tareen, in a telephonic conversation, asked MQM-P convenor Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui to join their incoming government.

Siddiqui, however, said that the decision regarding the same would be taken by the Rabita Committee.

Though the results of Wednesday's general elections are not officially declared yet, but the PTI has started preparations for government formation as it won a majority of seats in the National Assembly (NA).

As of now, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has released results of 268 out of 270 National Assembly constituencies.

As per the ECP's preliminary results, the PTI has won 115 seats, followed by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan People's Party (PPP), who are in the second (63 seats) and third positions (43 seats) respectively.

The MQM-P has won six seats in the current general elections so far, according to the ECP. (ANI)
